Our client is looking for a Principal Engineer – SAP to join their Engineering and Maintenance Application team as the technical expert supporting critical SAP systems. SAP enables our Engineering and Maintenance team to maintain the serviceability, support their supply Chain and finance. Their SAP implementation is a complicated technology stack and is very reliable. They need someone to maintain, own the knowledge, make recommendations for simplification, reliability and security of that stack.
Acting as a Technical Platform owner, Principal Consultant SAP Technical is expected to be a technical expert to provide technical thought leadership on the technical architecture, implementation and operation as relates to a product or group of products supporting business function(s), within a Digital product team to ensure technical issues are resolved and the strategy aligns with the overall digital strategy. Key responsibilities:
- Understand and own the SAP stack and inform roadmaps, becoming the go to person for expert advice
- Create and maintain rich documentation of their SAP stack
- Create plans for the maintenance and resilience of their SAP stack
- Analyse and evaluate existing application systems to identify opportunities for changes and enhancements that promotes reduction of technical debt
- Provide subject matter expertise and technical support to the business to assist in resolving issues, facilitating system improvements and to ensure integration of application developments across the business
- Manage the SAP operational maintenance & support program to ensure a high technical standard is applied
- Provide SAP system design and technical thought leadership to ensure the smooth implementation of enhancements, upgrades and integration with new systems
- Manage applications and system performance within SAP to ensure business outcomes are achieved
- Lead and coordinate SAP disaster recovery testing and documentation to ensure the business is protected and risk is reduced
- Work with autonomy and liaise across Digital including 3rd party vendors or suppliers to ensure appropriate support and technical input is provided.
The location of the role is in Auckland.
